Societe Generale de Recyclage
Société Générale des Techniques has decided to accelerate its transition towards a circular model with the creation of a recycled PET production unit at its Chalon-sur-Saône (71) site: SGR. This modern facility is equipped with cutting-edge technologies to transform plastic waste into high-quality recycled PET, meeting the requirements of the cosmetics, food, and industrial sectors, while ensuring full traceability and consistent performance.
Inaugurated in October 2024 in Rezé, Société Générale de Recyclage (SGR) strengthens this dynamic by enhancing the Group’s capacity to recycle plastics. This site reflects the Group’s commitment to sustainable processes and the reduction of its environmental footprint.
SGR
A high-quality rPET
The RPET produced by SGR enables SGT to respond to current market demands by assisting its customers with their own commitments to a circular and responsible economy. SGR’s RPET production has the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) approval for food contact. This means that thanks to its preform production SGT provides its customers with guaranteed supply and quality in the “bottle-to-bottle” principle.
SGR
A responsible investment
SGR has invested several million euros in its decontamination lines, recognized and approved by food safety authorities. This recycling unit relies on two complementary processes, LSP (Light Solid Phase) and SSP (Solid State Polycondensation), to produce high-quality recycled PET, pure and fully compliant with food-grade standards. The Chalon-sur-Saône site currently has a treatment capacity of 12,000 tonnes per year, while the Rezé site reaches 14,000 tonnes per year, directly supplying the preform production units located on each site. These facilities also create local jobs and strengthen the Group’s industrial footprint while fully contributing to the circular economy.

Give a second life to plastic bottles
With the projects in Chalon-sur-Saône and Rezé, supported by ADEME as well as the Bourgogne Franche-Comté and Pays de la Loire regions, the SGT Group is actively contributing to a major collective challenge: developing a more virtuous and environmentally friendly economy. These initiatives give a second life to used bottles, so that they are no longer seen as waste but as valuable, reusable resources.
